Tonight I was privileged to see one of my favorite bands in concert. Noah and the Whale!!! Some of you might think "that's silly, she knows a total of two songs by that band." But I'm telling you what, after tonight they are my new fav! What an incredible show they put on. I thought for a second I was done with shows, but tonight my boy Noah rekindled that flame and I just might now consider myself a groupie. There were a couple times I wanted to shed a tear or two because of the beauty of the music. If I may describe music as beautiful, I will... It was absolutely, positively, BEAUTIFUL! Not only was I in love with the music, but I came to a bit of a realization while I was there. I'll have to give a little background before I explain. Elder Luke Dunshee the Third (my mission, concert, and music buddy) gave me a history lesson of Charlie Fink- the lead vocalist of Noah and the Whale. During the making of the first album, Charlie Fink was dating and very in love with the bands background vocalist Laura Marling. Before the release of the album, Laura broke Charlies heart- leaving him and abandoning the band. The next album was all about Laura and the pain she had caused. That is where "Blue Skies," my favorite song came into the picture. It starts off by saying, "This is a song for anyone with a broken heart. This is a song for anyone who can't get out of bed, I'll do anything to be happy." It continues to say, "cause blue skies are calling, but I know that it's hard." I've listened to this song countless times wondering, "when will life get any easier?" "will these clouds ever go away?" As I was watching the show tonight, I realized, the blue skies are here! I am happier than I've been in a long time-longer than I can even remember. I'm constantly surrounded by incredible people who love me, I have an awesome job when the economy is rough, I get to go to school and further my education, I'm going to cool concerts like these and having adventures up to wazoo! Life is just as it should be...remarkable!!!
